As with most of our workshops, our Mental Health workshops can be customised to suit the needs of your school or organisation. Generally speaking, an interactive Mental Health workshop can be delivered as a morning/afternoon or full school day sessions which is typically 1-hour x 4/5 sessions with different groups of 30 students on rotation. For charities and corporate organisations please note we can customise any workshop according to your timetable and program.

The Value of 2020 Dreams Child Mental Health Workshops
Mental health problems rarely strike a child or teenager down overnight. There may or may not be a trigger, such as a bereavement or a negative social experience, that starts things off, but symptoms generally build up gradually until the child reaches a crisis point.

Child mental health workshops such as the 2020 Dreams Mental Health and Positive Thinking workshop can help young people to recognise the early signs of deteriorating mental health, in themselves and others, enabling them to take appropriate action before problems get out of hand.
Sometimes peer understanding and support is enough to get children through a tough time, but our workshops will help students to realise when a mental health issue requires external help, such as medical attention. This can help to reduce school absence and disrupted learning as an intervention comes sooner rather than later when the problems may have become entrenched.
2020 Dreams child mental health workshops also include positive thinking strategies which can benefit all children. Everyone will experience tough times during the school journey and positive thinking training forms a valuable preventative measure.
Some of the strategies that child mental health workshops introduce are regular exercise; healthy sleeping patterns; relaxation and breathing skills; adopting a ‘can do’ attitude; drawing on social support and making time for personal interests. Students will also be introduced to coping skills for dealing with anger, anxiety and stress.
Mental Health and the National Curriculum
Good quality child mental health workshops can form part of a school’s PSHE programme, but they can also be linked with other areas of the National Curriculum.
For example, Year Six primary school children are required to learn about how nutrition affects the body; a 2020 Dreams Mental Health and Positive Thinking workshop can broaden this topic to include how good nutrition also benefits mental health and why mental and physical well-being needs to both be in place if children are to lead happy successful lives.
