Body Image Image & Self Esteem Workshops
Whether it’s a young man trying to achieve the sculpted physique of a gym instructor or a teenage girl comparing herself with the airbrushed illusions in the latest fashion magazine, the tendency to associate feelings of worth and confidence – self esteem – with physical appearance is a difficult one to overcome for young people in today’s society.
To tackle this problem, 2020 Dreams are delivering Body Image and Low Self Esteem Workshops throughout the UK. Our popular workshops, run by experienced and sensitive facilitators, take children and teenagers back to reality and work on repairing the relationship they have with their bodies.
This is not only creating a generation of unhappy young people, it is also having an impact on education and career prospects as children and teens start to lose focus in the classroom and even skip school when their body image and self-esteem is at a low ebb.
Six out of ten girls opt out of normal activities over concerns about their appearance (Dove).
One in ten schoolgirls admitted to having skipped school because of their appearance (Dove).
Between 2012-13 and 2013-14, there was a 21% increase in children accessing counselling for body image issues (NSPCC).

‘The children loved it, they were very enthusiastic.’
‘It was very good, the children were engaged.’
Open and Engaging Discussions
2020 Dreams self esteem workshops make use of managed open forum discussions to get under the skin of the body image issue and motivate young people to take positive action in their own lives.
The discussions enable young people to open up about the pressures they are under, fostering a spirit of mutual support. With the guidance of the workshop leaders, they can then move on to generating solutions that will help them to reclaim their freedom, honour their own unique qualities, reduce anxiety levels and boost self esteem.
Our self esteem workshops will also look at how drastic measures such as extreme dieting, steroid use or surgical enhancements can be dangerous and become unnecessary once people stop chasing a fantasy image and begin setting more realistic goals. Students will learn how they can enhance their beauty by caring for themselves naturally through balanced nutrition, moderate exercise and quality sleep.
